Old Chevy - Friday Painting

It's Friday night. Tonight's posting is a 5x7" oil on wood panel of an Old Chevy pickup all pieced together on a Texas Ranch. Think this is it's last parking place.

Hot Air Balloon on Thursday Night

An evening before a weather change. One more weekend of cold weather is pending. That is okay, we will be perspiring heavily soon enough. It feels like it is already closing in, already cooler than an hour ago. The cats know a cold front is coming...they keep darting into the studio, running in circles like they are possessed. Funny cats. Tonight's painting is a small 5x7" Hot Air Balloon oil painting. I actually have a few more new Dog paintings to post, but I did not get the images edited yet...so we'll go with some bright renderings today and tomorrow. WOW, tomorrow is Friday. YEAH!

Chihuahua MoJo- Wednesday Evening

Let's minimize the words tonight and get some sleep early, eh? This is a fun painting of my brother's cool Chihuahua, named MoJo. This is a 16x20" acrylic on canvas. The background is a bit of teal and turquoise.

Whippet, ArT FoOL D0dGEr - Tuesday Night

Rats, I had this posted just the way I wanted and a fat fingering lost it all. I was lamenting about the short days, and about how I am NOT getting enough done, fast enough. I am also thinking ahead to my next series- one called family with the beginning images of Granpa and Grandson, Sister Teresita and the Frog Legs, Uncle Henry and the Oscilloscope, Tie dyed Tshirts and Balancing Rock...and I am sure more will come to mind as I work through that series. And the other series that I am painting IN MY BRAIN (that is where it always begins) is the Quitaque Series. Girls on the Hills, Blue Chair, Caprock, Wood Gatherer...okay that is probably at least 6 months of large works, right? Anyway, back to the present. The present painting is a 16x20" acrylic rendering of that rascal Whippet- ArT FoOL D0dGEr. He is the recalcitrant runaway, but I captured him on canvas. He has a blue heart and a moonscape in his ears...since it is the Valentines Month.

Great Dane- Dana- Monday Night

Monday night and we are back to posting the newest images. Last night was the first of the 5x7 images-those quick studies that sometimes are not so quick. We'll run through all of those soon, and then get them going on Ebay again. I can hardly wait to see how they are received. I am also thinking about trying ETSY and Craig's List. Tonight's posting is the first rendering of Dana the Great Dane...I have some additional images I will be working from, too. She is a beautiful and noble beast. This is an 11x14" acrylic on canvas capture of her. This is the first of several favorite dog portraits to follow.

Sunday Night- 29 New Works

Yeah! 29 new works are completed. 25 of these are small works like this 5x7" rendering of a Magnolia on Canvas Panel. This is an Oil Painting, with lots of detail for a small work, and this is same work that is also available as a large framed and matted Pastel. Soon I will also be posting all of the new Dog Portraits. The technique is evolving into a very unique style. I just have to clean up the images and get them ready to share. This weekend was full of planning and working on marketing plans and ideas. It was also a weekend to begin realizing the dreams, to begin those positive thought processes- they are part of what will make it all a reality.

Thursday Night - Ballet

Yep, a long time ago I used to take the daughter to Ballet on Thursday nights. So tonight I am posting the original 16 x 20" oil named "Ballet". I am so happy tomorrow is Friday. This weekend I hope to get digital images of the 30 new paintings done and start posting those on my blog. Especially the new pics of pets....I am anxious and hoping to receive some feedback on those. Promised myself to get some sleep soon.

Wednesday-Midweek Quick Post

I'm tired so the post is a quick one tonight. Another figure painting, a 20 x 30" pastel of three little girls in red tights getting ready for that performance. Think positive, we're on the downhill slide of the week. A weekend promises time to ride the bike, long walks, and more paintings. But once again, what about that business and marketing side?

Tuesday Night- Quick Post

Tonight is post and run night. Back to work. It's all good, we do what we have to do. Still exciting to get home and get two small works completed. I am enjoying the "Smiling Dogs" series. I'll try to get the pics of them done pretty quickly and get them posted. Would love some feedback. Now, tonight's painting is a completely different subject, a 3x4' rendering of the last day in D.C. A visit with my friend to the National Museum. I'm ready to go back there for another visit soon.

Monday, Monday-

I was very hopeful this morning about getting a lot done today. I wanted to finish the 5 quick studies and then photograph all of them. I also wanted to spend some more time on my Art Marketing Plan, and to begin sending some applications out for Grants and Residencies. I guess now those will become my goals for the week, because tomorrow will return the 8 to 5 routine, and it will be difficult to accomplish too much in an evening. Still feels good to have gotten so much accomplished. Life is moving forward and positively again. WooHoo! Tonight's posting is a 2x3' oil on canvas of the City of Denton, Electrical Cable Crew that I used to work with. The painting is a bit "historic".

Sunday Night

New day, new week. Here we go again. Only this week I seem to be back on my heart's task. I've gotten 4 new works done this weekend, and I'm spending time back on the marketing plans and dreams. What happened? I don't know. I think it was just the block of time, and the earlier sale last week on www.dailyoriginal.com. Sales always help to motivate, don't they? I started searching some of the art marketing sites this weekend too. I found some really good sites. As I research them, I will add them to my links. Tonight I am posting a 16x20" acrylic on canvas of a little boy in the snow demonstrating that classic snow angel pose.

Friday Night- Productive Day

Two paintings done today, part of that "smiling dog" series. Hoping for 3 more along those lines this weekend, then beginning the Caprock Canyon or Quitaque Series. Beginning to do some large works with acrylics. Challenging media, but great working with something different. I also got some watercolor paper, I may have to give that a go this weekend too. Tonight listing is the Beach Boys, a large Oil painting on canvas, of two little boys at the Galveston beach early morning dressed in bright red swim trunks.

Thursday Evening & Home Sweet Home

I cruised back home from Austin last night. I could have sworn that I posted when I got home, but looks like it was my imagination. I did package a painting and shipped it away though.

I always enjoy my visits to Austin, but it is so good to be home. Before I left town, I visited a place called Laguna Gloria Art Museum -it ended up being only 5 blocks from where I was working. It was a visual delight- eye candy for me. I love those benches and I want to paint more. The good news is that I am indeed painting again, but I will take those little steps. Those classic little 5x7" now archival on wood panels. So tonight's painting is a large, 22 x 28" pastel on paper - "The Boy and the Bubble".

Tuesday Too Late

Once again, exhaustion. Meetings all day, here in Austin still...but tomorrow I go home. It's all good. Tonight's listing is another larger 36x48" original Oil painting called "Waiting". This painting is the beginning of a series of paintings in a "Fishing" series. Life is good. Last night the website www.dailyoriginal.com told me they sold a painting. Inspiration and Motivation in one quick email and one phone call. I'm happy. Hope you are.

Monday Night-

I missed my deadline, it is really Tuesday morning...but it seems like Monday night. Still in Austin for work. Too tired to do much more than a quick posting...ah, but good news! Website Art Representative www.dailyoriginal.com came through for me today and sold a painting. CELEBRATE with me! Makes me so happy and motivates me to work harder.
Tonights posting is very special. It is a very large 36x48" oil on wood panel with extreme detail. If you look really closely, it has the hidden message "CHOICES".

Sunday Night-

The weekend was good. Saturday I walked 6 miles, with the "grand dog". Then a short 5 mile bike ride. I needed that after the stress of the week. So tomorrow is a new week. Let's hope it is a good one. Going to try to visit some art spots while I am in Austin for business. There probably will not be any time left over, but I am going to try anyway. Tonight's little painting is another 5x7" oil on canvas panel. Two hens in the bluebonnets. I need to paint some more of the hens. They were a lot of fun and seem to be popular. I hope you can make it a great week.

Friday Night Rights

My Friday Night Rite may be to turn in early. This week has been brain-draining, bone wearing, joint-aching long. I don't know sometimes, I should be happy for the job...but somehow trading 5 days for them, and 2 for me just does not seem right. I need to make a change soon. Tonight's little kitty painting is another 5x7" Oil on canvas panel. Saturday better be good!

February 5, 2009

Thursday

Where does the time go? I am exhausted so just a quick post and few words tonight. This is an oil painting of my little brother's kitten. It's a 5x7" oil on canvas panel.

Tuesday- another day

Some days we do really well, some days we struggle to survive. There are things you can do that are irreversible- and there is nothing you can do about it. Chalk it up to experience and go on. Maybe let it ruin the day (if it is late), but not let it ruin the life. Experience is like that. Tonight's painting is an 8x10" oil on canvas panel. Grey Cat and the Red Rug.

Monday- Lily the Cat

Do you think you can have TOO much fun? I do. I had too much fun this weekend. What a great and wonderful time. There is nothing like great friends and loving family. But now it is back to work and let's get back on that theme of Kitty Cats. This is Lily...she is getting to be an old cat, and definitely a special cat. The painting is a 5x7" Oil on canvas panel.
